If you are anything like me, you are proud to be a Humphrey's owner because not only are they made in the USA, but they are made to last! Here are 5 tips to keep your smoker in tip top shape!
1. Use it, and Use it often. The natural seasoning that occurs from cooking will prevent surface rust from happening. The more you cook in your smoker the more seasoning will coat the walls and rack slides. Think of the inside of the cook chamber much like cast iron cookware. Here is a link of how to restore cast iron: Click here You can use these same practices to restore the interior of your smoker.
2. Keep it dry, both inside and out. It is very important to keep the moisture from lingering around. Once you are done cooking for the day, and the charcoal has stopped burning, remove the water pan. Keep the cook chamber door slightly open so that moisture can escape and dry out.
Your smoker will do fine outdoors. It will hold up in the weather, however, to keep it dry, It is best to keep your smoker in a garage or under cover when not in use.
3. Lube those hinges! You will want to make sure to squirt some WD-40 or PB Blaster in the hinges as the 4 seasons change. I like to spray it right in the seam and then work the doors back and forth. You can remove the doors if you’d like, but be careful not to lose the brass washers.
4. Adjust your latches. As your gasket wears on your smoker, you will want to adjust your latches to tighten up the door and in turn the seal. Here is a video to show the process of how to do this.

5. Cleaning the outside, use a mild dish soap or car soap with wax. Use a soft sponge. If you have tough grime use a grease remover such as Greased Lighting. If you have some smokey areas around the door areas, use Mr. Clean magic eraser to get those tough areas.
