Humphrey's BBQ Competition Team 🔥

The backstory: 

Humphrey's BBQ competition team has been competing since circa 2013, they have been building their own smokers for around the same amount of time. After the 2019 season Chad and Nicole decided to take some time off of the competition circuit to create some new products, they had their minds on and wanted to be able to give 110% into some new exciting ventures, but after a few years of developing new recipes, creating many new products and exploring some exciting business ventures they decided to dip their toes back in the competition water in 2023 at the Kora Kares of Kids BBQ Competiton where with the third addition to their competition team, Jill, they scored a 180 in Brisket and were bit by the competition bug again. During the 2024 season, they picked up some more contests to get back into the swing of things, then decided to take the full plunge in 2025. The 2025 season currently has over 30 contests scheduled for Team Humphrey's, and they can't wait to hit the road!

The 2025 Competition season: 

Fire on Ice BBQ championship - Onamia, MN - February 21st & 22nd

Chad & Nicole scored a 4th place call in ribs and finished 13th overall out of 42 all-star teams! Humphrey's BBQ had a fantastic time at this competition, from the teams who competed alongside us to the organizers and the atmosphere. This contest was a hit! 

 

Smoke on the Shores BBQ Championship - Lebanon, TN - 3/14/25 & 3/15/25

We had a fabulous time at the Smoke on the Shores BBQ Championship in Lebanon, TN! We didn't walk away with any records it was a tough competition with a lot of great teams (Over 140 Pro and backyard teams!), but we had a great time and it's nice to get back on the competition trail with a contest of this magnitude being our second of the year! We made some adjustments and are more than ready to hit the next competition in a few weeks! Thank you to everyone who put on the Smoke on the Shores BBQ Championship, we look forward to coming back again! 

 

Southern New England BBQ Throwdown - Bristol, CT - 4/11/25 & 4/12/25

Despite the weather, Team Humphrey's BBQ had a great time at the BBQ Throwdown! On day one, we received 4th in chicken and 10th in pork! In the one meat category, we also took home 8th in chicken. On day two, we placed 6th in pork ribs! It was great catching up with all the New England teams, shout out to FATED for a great playlist and some even better drinks! We were so proud of all the #TeamHumphreys teams that competed this weekend, like Smokin' Hoggz, Paddy McQ's, El Jefe Smoke, and more! Congratulations to Day one winners Getting Basted with GC and Boggs hog with RGC, and day two winners Uncle Pig's BBQ Pit with GC and Getting Basted on RGC!

New Jersey KnoQ-out - Blairstown, NJ - 5/2/25 & 5/3/25

KnoQ-out was a great contest! Filled with a very tough competition field Team Humphrey's still pulled out some calls! Ribs was our category this weekend with a 4th place call and a 1st place call in Pork Ribs! We also snagged an 8th place call in one meat chicken! We also unveiled our newest product, the Humphrey's Chicken Sled! We recently released the Brisket Sled and we have gotten great feedback on this and decided we wanted to release our next addition to the Humphrey's store! 

Special shoutout to Team Humphrey's teams Smokin' Hoggz on Grand Champion and several top 10 calls, Boggs Hogg on RGC also with some great calls, Paddy McQ's, Grandpa Val's, Glazed & Infused on RGC, and I'm sure there is more! We love cooking in this field of competitors!  

Massachusetts in May - Wrentham, MA - 5/16/25 & 5/17/25

It was a great contest to catch up with a bunch of the local teams! Team Humphrey had no luck on day one, we tried a new cooking program and were still learning some of those adjustments, with that being said day two was better for us! On day two we finished higher in the rankings in all categories and pulled out a 5th place call in pork! We will be doing some more practice cooks before our next competition in Massachusetts and hopefully get dialed in!

 

Granite State BBQ Championship - Hancock, NH - 5/30/25 & 5/31/25

The Granite State BBQ Championship in beautiful Hancock, NH is in the books, and what a weekend it was! Day one we finished 9th overall with an 8th place call in ribs and 3rd place in pork! In one meat chicken on Saturday night we finished 10th overall, and in one meat ribs, we grabbed a 3rd overall win! Now onto day two, we finished 6th overall with a perfect 180 in pork (Cooked in the new Humphrey's Hot Box!) and an 8th place call in brisket! We had a great weekend along with several other #TeamHumphreys teams who earned lots of top ten calls! Now onto our next competition in Wisconsin! 


Bring'n Home the Bacon - Salem, WI - 6/13/25 to 6/15/25

We're gonna be honest, these contests were tough cooks for us, BUT, that's all part of BBQ! When traveling to new places, not cooking on your regular set up, cooking in a new region, against teams you've never cooked again before it's all part of it! Ribs were our highest placement this weekend in all three turn-ins! We had a blast at this competition and loved meeting all these teams and exploring some of beautiful Wisconsin! Shout out to the contest organizers Laurie and Keith for all their help and for organizing an awesome contest! 

 

BBQ & Brew - Rutland, VT - 6/21/25 & 6/22/25

Humphrey's BBQ made the last minute decision to change up their schedule and head to Vermont to cook in their first ever CBA contest, and it did not disappoint! First off we started the weekend with a SCA competition on Saturday and took home 1st place! This was Team Humphrey's first time cooking an SCA, and we had a blast! On to Sunday, the main event! We received a top 10 call in every category!
